Why Signage is Important For Your Wedding

Featuring Claire from White Ink Calligraphy

When thinking of all the other elements that come into planning a wedding, signage is often left till the last minute to obtain. We spoke with one of Nashville’s favorite vendors, Claire with White Ink Calligraphy, about why signage is so important. Keep reading to see what are some helpful ways you can use signage in your wedding to elevate your event and provide information to guests easily and concisely.

Question: Tell us why signage is important?

Claire with White Ink: Wedding Signage serves a purpose for showing your guests where to go, what they are eating, where they are seated, what’s on the bar, etc.! It also can be used to incorporate your overall wedding design aesthetics.

Ravenswood Pro Tip: An easy way to dress up your bar is to add in some signs for your guests to read what you are serving.

Question: What are some big and small ways to elevate your event with signage / calligraphy?

Claire with White Ink: Small ways to incorporate calligraphy would be to have your guests at just your head table have place cards with hand lettering.  Calligraphy is an instant elevation to your decor and when guests see their name in calligraphy, they feel extra special, knowing it was hand done.  At a minimum, I would suggest a welcome sign at a wedding.  This sign is usually the first piece of decor that guests will see when they attend your wedding or ceremony site. If you are wanting to go BIG with your event signage, let’s do a large scale seating chart installation. These are so fun and provide an interactive experience with your guests.

Question: What is your favorite or an unusual way to add signage to an event?

Claire with White Ink:  I love using mixed mediums.  Your signage pieces don’t necessarily all have to match.  Mix-matched, texture, different styles, will make your signage more interesting!

Ravenswood Pro Tip: With access to our Mansion for cocktail hour or bringing dinner out onto our patio, you can mix different signage elements from the inside to the outside of the house.

Thank you Claire for your wonderful insight! We frequently see bar cocktail signs, guest seating charts and mirror or scripted welcome signs here at Ravenswood with perfect spots for them on our front porch, back porch, and right off the walkway to the pavers where your party might be. These easy pops of decor can really pull together your event and bring it to new heights.
